Echinacea 'PowWow White' LIVE Plant [Medicinal]

description
‘PowWow White’ is a white-flowered coneflower that typically grows in an upright clump to 2-3' tall and to 1-1.5' wide on sturdy, well-branched stems that do not need staking. Each flower (to 3-4" diameter) features downward-arching, overlapping, clean white rays which encircle a large yellow to yellowish-brown center cone. Flowers bloom from late spring to late summer, sometimes with additional sporadic bloom until frost. Narrow-ovate leaves (to 6” long) are medium green.
Butterflies love the flowers, birds love the seeds, and folks love the generous long-lasting bouquets. Easy to grow, prolific bloomer. Deadheading will prevent seeding, but birds are crazy about the seeds, and the seedheads are attractive in the winter, especially in the snow. If removing them, leave the foliage at the base of the plant to overwinter. May be slow to emerge in the spring. These generally don't need to be divided, but can be divided in early spring or early fall.
Echinacea can be used medicinally as an extract or herbal tea. Anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying. Treats AIDS and other diseases affecting the auto-immune system. Boils, septicemia, cancer, syphilis, eczema, ear infections, infections of the respiratory and urinary tract, cold sores, blisters (Herpes simplex virus).
In Germany (where herbs are regulated by the government), the above-ground parts of Echinacea purpurea are approved to treat colds, upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and slow-healing wounds. The root of Echinacea pallida is also approved for the treatment of flu-like infections.
